“The Humans looks terrific. From Singh and Jessica Tankard’s cartoon-like set design to Holly Waddington’s costumes — which make very clear nods to classical Greek sculpture, Renaissance-era Flemish painting, and classic Broadway baroque — the production mines art history with great success to create an eclectically stylized yet coherent combination of styles.”

(Blouin Art Info, Benjamin Sutton)

“Donning grotesque masks evocative of James Ensor or Otto Dix paintings, the humans fumble their way through the Enlightenment, goaded on by the tyrannical Vernon (Ryan Kiggell). What follows is a tender vision of ugly, idiot humanity.”

(Art in America, William S Smith)
